The Vega EVX, Sri Lanka’s & South Asia’s first fully-electric supercar launch postponed due to cancellation of Geneva Motor Show

The 2020 Geneva Motor Show is canceled after the Swiss government banned gatherings of 1,000 people or more on Friday due to concerns over the coronavirus. The ban is effective immediately and runs at least until March 15th.

“We regret this situation, but the health of all participants is our and our exhibitors’ top priority,” the Geneva Motor show’s organizers said in a statement on Friday.

Sri Lanka’s Super Car ‘Vega’ was to be launched during the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.

“We are disappointed that Coronovirus forces the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show 2020. Years of strategizing, and months of planning got the Vega EVX to Geneva in the hopes of been unveiled in front of the world media. The event may have been cancelled, but our goals and aspirations haven’t changed one bit.” Sri Lanka’s Vega Innovation said in a statement.

“We have successfully developed a ground up electric super car, while she proudly sits in her elegant stall awaiting to be unveiled pending final decision. She bears the aspirations of a dedicated team, and the hopes of a country!” Statement added.

The Vega EVX, Sri Lanka’s and South Asia’s first fully-electric supercar, was shipped to Switzerland to be unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The vehicle was shipped from the Colombo harbour on 19 January.

Vega EVX was to be the first-ever vehicle in history entirely designed and engineered in Sri Lanka to be showcased at a premier international motor show.

This all-electric supercar is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive drivetrain delivering 804 HP and 720 NM of torque. With a 40 kWh battery-pack, recent test drives confirm a staggering 0 to 100 kmph acceleration in 3.1 seconds, an estimated range of 250 km and a top speed of 240 kmph, displaying the overall performance of the Vega EVX Supercar. This two-seater supercar showcases advanced multidisciplinary technology applications and a skilfully fabricated lightweight carbon fibre body.
