26 year old Jeevan Thondaman to contest from SLPP in place of his late father

The Ceylon Workers’ Congress today (27) requested Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to nominate 26 year old Jeewan Thondaman as candidate, in the position that became vacant after the sudden passing of Minister Arumugan Thondaman on Tuesday.

Arumugan Thondaman had given nomination to contest polls from Nuwara Eliya district under the SLPP.

Jeewan Thondaman is the son of Mr. Arumugan Thondaman and was the youth wing leader of Ceylon Workers’ Congress.

Prime Minister’s office said that Jeewan Thondaman’s name will be forwarded to Election Commission shortly.
