CCTV : Shooting in Moratuwa on hotelier; Alleged attacker challenges police

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a hotel in Soysapura, Moratuwa, at 12:30 am on Friday.

CCTV footage shows gunshots were fired by a group which had arrived in a car, and later fled the scene.

CCTV footage also shows several Police officers were also near the hotel when the shooting took place.

No one was injured but hotel premises was damaged due to the shooting.

Police say hotel owner had been threatened by a group demanding ransom. Apparently his hotel was attacked a few weeks ago by a group of people who had come with rods/clubs in hand.

Hotel owner has also handed over an audio clip to the police, claiming to be of the attacker who spoke to him this morning, threatening that he will kill him soon. In the audio clip, the attacker also openly challenges the police, saying that they can’t be of help to the hotelier.
