The Chairman of the Lanka Self Employed Professionals’ National Three Wheeler Federation Sunil Jayawardana has died in Kalubowila hospital after being assaulted by a group in Mirihana.
Police said Sunil Jayawardena (53) was killed in an assault following a heated argument that broke out yesterday over the lease of a three-wheeler involving a leasing company.
Police have so far arrested 8 suspects over the incident.
Sunil Jayawardena who is also a candidate contesting the upcoming General Election had released several videos to social media recently criticising the ‘leasing mafia’ that is affecting three-wheel drivers.
