Woman who was treated for COVID-19 and discharged from Homagama hospital, returns as a COVID-19 positive patient

A 36-year old woman from Anuradhapura, Kebithigollawa has been reported as COVID-19 infected. She is a returnee from Kuwait, who was treated for COVID-19 before at Homagama Hospital.

Hospital authorities had decided to discharge her on last Sunday (14th), after initial treatments and sent home, as the tests conducted had confirmed that her infection has been cured.

However, once she returned home, she had COVID-19 symptoms yet again and following that she had immediately got admitted to Anuradhapura hospital yesterday (15th).

According to a PCR test conducted subsequently, it had been confirmed that the novel coronavirus is still present in her body.

Anuradhapura Hospital Director stated that she has been transferred to IDH for further treatment.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that there has been several cases like this reported throughout and nobody has to fear about transmission of the virus from them, as they’ve been subjected to complete disinfection process.
