Former President Maithripala Sirisena has made a revelation on those responsible for the Easter Sunday terror attacks, that killed over 250 and injured over 500 on 21 April 2019.

Addressing a political rally, Sirisena revealed that the Easter Sunday terror attacks, targeting multiple churches and hotels across the country, were carried out by international drug racketeers.

He said he was instrumental in the arrest of drug kingpins, such as Makandure Mdush, and launching of various programmes to eradicate the drug menace from the country.

“My actions during my Presidency to curb the drug menace in the country and reinstate the capital punishment for convicted drug offenders had offended certain druglords, who in return launched a plan to remove me from power and make me unpopular among the public. This plan was none other than the Easter attack.”, Sirisena said.

The former President further said following the 05 August Parliamentary polls, he will join hands with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and will work towards the complete eradication of the drug menace from villages. (Newswire)
