40 COVID-19 patients reported yesterday

Forty COVID-19 patients were reported yesterday, raising the total number of patients in Sri Lanka to 1991.

The Ministry of Health said, among the new patients, 29 had arrived from Mumbai, India, and 11 are returnees from the US.

A total of 432 patients, reported as active cases are currently receiving treatment at hospitals.

Meanwhile, 22 persons who were infected with the virus were discharged from hospitals yesterday after complete recovery.

The patients had been discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH), Welikanda, Kattankudy, Homagama, and Theldeniya hospitals.

The Ministry added that a total of 1548 patients have completely recovered so far.

From the 901 identified Navy patients 790 of them have now recovered.
