Amendments proposed to daily operational times of State and private Institutions

The Government is to consider amendments proposed to the times announced for the daily operation of both State and private Institutions.

As per the proposed amendments, State institutions will function from 09.00 a.m. to 04.45 p.m and private organizations will operate from 09.45 a.m. to 06.45 p.m.

The Government has proposed the new times in order to practice and maintain social distancing in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, reduce traffic congestion, and to improve the productivity of both State and private organizations.

A committee, headed by Additional Secretary of Planning for the Ministry of Transportation Management Tilakaratne Banda, was appointed to compile a report containing the necessary guidelines on the advice issued by the President to subject Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.

The report containing the amendments proposed to the times announced for the daily operation of State and private institutions was handed over to Minister Amaraweera by the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport Management Gamini Senaratne today.

Minister Amaraweera told the media that the proposed amendments will be implemented after the report has been handed over to the Ministry of Public Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers.
