Images of a man and woman brandishing a semi-automatic rifle and a pistol at Black Lives Matter protesters who swarmed around the edge of their property have gone viral.
Activists entered a private road in a wealthy neighborhood in St Louis, Missouri. The fully armed response from the homeowners saw them earn both praise for ‘standing their ground,’ and criticism for ‘mishandling’ their guns and ‘threatening peaceful protesters.’
The protest was actually aimed at the local mayor, with activists demanding she resign, partly for publicly revealing the names of several Black Lives Matter members who are behind calls to defund police and close a local jail.
However, the debate is now about whether this armed couple were in the wrong, despite acting within the law to defend their property.
