Two teenagers have died by suicide after jumping into the Polgolla Reservoire in Kandy.
The teenagers have been identified as a 16 year-old male and 17 year – old female.
The Police said the two youths had jumped into the reservoir at around 5.30 this morning.
It is suspected that they had attempted suicide due to their parents not consenting to their love affair.
The body of the boy has been recovered, while search operations are underway to retrieve the body of the girl, the Police further said.
