Bodies of two males found In Denawaka River yet to be identified

The identities of the bodies of two males, which were found floating in the Denawaka River in the Galpoththawela area in Pelmadulla, Ratnapura this morning, have not been ascertained as yet.

The Police said cut wounds were found in certain parts of both bodies, while a small rope was also found around the wrists.

The Police suspect that the two men had been murdered elsewhere and had been later dumped in the Denawaka River.

Meanwhile, no suspects have been arrested in connection to the murder of the owner of a hotel located in Gurugammana Road in Mawiththara, Piliyandala reported yesterday.

The owner was found dead inside a room on a bed with injuries to the back of his head, while his wife was admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching hospital with minor injuries.

The Piliyandala Police together with officials from the Western Province – South Criminal Investigations Unit are conducting investigations into the incident. 30 people have been questioned by the Police over the murder so far.
