Police officer arrested in Ampara for concealing evidence on Sainthamaruthu terrorist explosion

A Chief Inspector of Police was arrested by officials from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) today.

The Police said the officer had served as the Officer -in – Charge (OIC) of the Ampara Police Garage.

The suspect had been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

The Police said his arrest was made in connection to ongoing investigations on the Easter Sunday terror attacks that took place on 21 April 2019.

The officer is suspected to have concealed evidence with regard to the explosion that occurred in Sainthamaruthu on 26 April, when attempts were underway to arrest perpetrators involved in the terror attacks. (Newswire)
