114 visitors of Kandakadu inmates test negative, nearly 12, 000 in self-quarantine in Rajanganaya

All those who visited inmates at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre during the coronavirus outbreak have tested negative.

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said 114 persons had visited inmates during this period.

The results of PCR or COVID-19 tests conducted on all 114 persons and their family members have returned negative, he added.

Meanwhile, Director -General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 5000 PCR tests have been conducted in connection to the coronavirus outbreak at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre.

The tests include those identified as clusters connected to the outbreak at the centre.

He further said nearly 12, 000 individuals have been placed in self-quarantine in the Rajanganaya area in Anuradhapura.

The second round of PCR tests to be conducted in the area will commence from tomorrow, he added. (Newswire)
