Sri Lanka debating team reaches World Schools Debating Championship Final

The National Debate Team of Sri Lanka has qualified for the final at the World Schools Debating Championship.

Team Sri Lanka qualified after defeating Team Ireland 7-0 in the semi-final.

The National Debate Team of Sri Lanka will face Team Canada in the Final scheduled for Sunday, 02 August.

Team Sri Lanka consists of two students each from Royal College and the Colombo International School, and one student from Ananda College.

  • Rahul De Silva (CIS).

Team is coached by Kithmina Hewage and Sanjit Dias.

The World Schools Debating Championship is the World Cup of English debating at school level with each country being represented by one team.

Sixty- eight (68) countries are reported to have participated in the championship this year.

The tournament which was supposed to be held in Mexico is being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Newswire)
