The feline that was captured while attempting to smuggle in stashes of heroin into the Welikada prison recently was not reported missing, Commissioner (Operations) of the Department of Prisons Chandana Ekanayake said.
Ekanayake said the cat was found to be freely roaming within the Prison premises.
The cat was captured by Officials from the Prison intelligence unit with 2 grams of heroin, 2 sim cards, and a memory card tied to its neck last week.
The cat was placed inside a room in the prison until being handed over to the Police but was said to have gone missing from the room.
However, Chandana Ekanayake said the cat was not reported missing but was instead found roaming within the prison premises. (Newswire)
