The Government is reported to be pondering the creation of a new portfolio for former President Maithripala Sirisena, the Daily Mirror reported.
The new portfolio is to be provided following the enactment of new constitutional changes expected later.
The portfolio is reportedly considered to be on a higher level than a Cabinet Minister.
Former President Sirisena, who contested from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramun (SLPP) topped the preferential votes in the Polonnaruwa district in the General Elections 2020.
The Government is reportedly expected to largely prioritize constitutional changes. (Newswire)
