School girl abducted in Kandy found abandoned after 3 hours

A female student of a prominent school in Kandy was abducted from outside her residence this morning (15).

The unidentified group that had abducted the child had however dropped her off in front of another school in Kandy after nearly 3 hours.

The 12- year-old girl from Bahirawakanda had stepped out of her house around 06.45 a.m. to collect a facemask from a house situated nearby.

An unidentified group in a van had then abducted the child following which the parents of the missing child had informed the Police in this regard.

Police officials who had arrived at the house to conduct investigations had managed to place a call to the child’s mobile phone.

Investigations conducted by the Police Unit had revealed that the child was being transported between many locations in Kandy.

The Police had thereafter found the child abandoned at the entrance of another prominent school in Kandy around 09.45 a.m.

The suspects involved in the abduction have not been identified as yet, while further investigations are being conducted into the incident. (NewsWire)
