Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed to introduce a new evaluation system after concerns were raised by the public with regard to the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB), State Minister Shehan Semasinghe announced in Parliament yesterday.

He said the Prime Minister issued the instructions after the public had claimed that their names were being included in the CRIB when seeking a financial facility.

The State Minister of Samurdhi, Household Economy, Micro Finance, Self-Employment, Business Development and Underutilized State Resources Development further said the Government will introduce a new credit system for the country.

“Banks have been instructed to refrain from refusing to grant loans to individuals based on the fact that their names have been included in the CRIB. This should not be an obstacle for those who wish to receive a financial facility’, State Minister Semasingeh added. (NewsWire)
