Man undergoing self-isolation dies in Monaragala

An individual who was undergoing self-isolation at his residence on suspicion of having associated with a COVID-19 patient in the Medagama area in Monaragala is reported to have died at his house yesterday.

The Monaragala Hospital Police said that the deceased has been identified as a 70-year-old from the Bolgalla- Walgolla area in Monaragala.
A woman who had travelled in a private bus from Colombo to Monaragala was detected with COVID-19 on Sunday (04).

The daughter of the deceased was also found to have travelled in the same bus, following which the entire family had been placed in self-isolation at their residence by health authorities.

The 70-year-old man who had suffered a sudden illness around 07.00 p.m. yesterday, had died after being admitted to the Monaragala District hospital.

Hospital authorities have decided to transfer the body of the deceased to the Karapitiya hospital to conduct a PCR test in order to ascertain if he had contracted the coronavirus or not. (NewsWire)
