Marriot Weligama ordered to halt operations due to Covid patient’s visit

A manager of the apparel factory in Minuwangoda in the centre of the latest Covid-19 outbreak is reported to have visited the Marriot Hotel in Weligama.

Chairman of the Weligama Municipal Council Rehan Jayawickreme said on twitter that the patient had visited the hotel on the 3rd and 4th of October 2020.

As a result, Jayawickreme has instructed the hotel to halt all operations.

He said instructions have also been issued for all staff to undergo the mandatory 14-days quarantine.

PCR tests will be conducted on all employees and in-house guests, he added. (NewsWire)
