61 Covid patients detected from Colombo district since Minuwangoda cluster

A total of 06 coronavirus patients have been detected within the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) limits following the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Minuwangoda.

CMC Chief Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said between 250 to 300 PCR tests are to be conducted within today.

Several individuals from groups identified as at-risk from within the CMC limits will be thus subjected to PCR tests, he said.

Dr. Wijayamuni further said that residents of a luxury housing complex in Union Place, Colombo will undergo PCR tests today, after one resident tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, individuals employed at the Manning Market in Colombo will also be subjected to PCR tests today, after an employee was detected with coronavirus.

Furthermore, a total of 61 coronavirus patients have been detected within the Colombo district as of yesterday (14).

Secretary to the Public Health Inspectors Association (PHI) M. Balasooriya said that all patients have been linked to the recently detected Minuwangoda COVID-19 cluster.

PCR tests are being conducted by health authorities and the Colombo Municipal Council to detect possible patients from the district, he added. (NewsWire)
