15 individuals have been detected with the coronavirus within the Maharagama Municipal Council limits, the Ada Newspaper reported.

The Public Health Inspectors Association (PHI) said the patients were identified from the Nagahawatta, Pannipitiya, Weera Mawatha, Pathiragoda, Janatha Mawatha, Navinna, Eruwwala, Embuldeniya, and Jayagath Mawatha areas.

The patients have been identified as second contacts of patients linked to the outbreak at the Peliyagoda fish market and fisheries harbours.
Nearly 200 people have been quarantined in 25 houses following the detection of the patients from Maharagama.

The PHI Association said the patients were detected after PCR tests were conducted yesterday on 160 persons who were placed in quarantine in the area.

A complaint has also been filed with the Police on a group of people who had violated quarantine regulations and had travelled within the area. (NewsWire)
