Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera has instructed the Acting IGP to investigate the COVID 19 cluster detected from the Brandix apparel factory in Minuwangoda.

The AG’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said that the Attorney General had further instructed the Acting IGP to submit a Progress Report within two weeks.

The ‘second wave’ of the coronavirus commenced following an outbreak from the Brandix apparel factory in Minuwangoda earlier this month.

A supervisor of the factory was the first to test positive in the Divulapittiya area, following which more employees of the factory were found to have contracted the virus.

The outbreak led to the detection of a new coronavirus cluster after a nearly three months since the ‘first wave’ in March 2020. (NewsWire)
