Newly appointed State Minister of Prison Management and Prisoner’s Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte today commenced duties by conducting an inspection of the Mahara Prison where an unrest occurred on Sunday (29).
The State Minister had instructed authorities to restore all properties of the prison that were damaged in the fire ignited by the inmates.
He had further met with inmates at the Mahara Prison and enquired about their various issues
State Minister Lohan Ratwatte also ordered Prison officials to impelemnet measures to immediately conduct Rapid Antigen Tests on all inmates at the prison.
Meanwhile authorities have released some video and pictures insides the prison premises.
