Sri Lanka Cricket legend Chaminda Vaas who handed over his resignation earlier today from all his positions at Sri Lanka Cricket, has responded to Sri Lanka Cricket’s statement with a twitter message.

Sri Lanka Cricket accused Chaminda Vaas of irresponsibly asking for a pay hike before the team’s departure for West Indies.

“I made a humble request to SLC and they turned it down. That’s all I can say at the moment. Justice will prevail !” Vaas tweeted.

According to cricket sources Chaminda Vaas has requested Sri Lanka Cricket to give him a similar package to former bowling coach David Sekar, who was replaced by Chaminda Vaas last week.

Sri Lanka Cricket refused Vaas’ request, after which he tendered his resignation.

“SLC pays high for foreign coaches with less international experience, but will only pay a lesser amount for local coaches, this is a big problem” A senior Cricket Commentator told NewsWire.

In his international career spanning 13 years, Vaas scalped 761 wickets – 355 from 111 Tests, 400 in 322 ODIs and 6 in 6 T20Is. The southpaw was one of the best left-arm pacers in the history of cricket. (NewsWire)
