The Colombo District Court today issued an enjoining order to United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Court has issued the order preventing the UNP leader from expelling Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council member Dhammika Chandraratna.

The enjoining order issued by the court is in effect till 12th April, 2021, preventing the expulsion of Chndraratne from the Municipal Council and the UNP.

The order was issued after a petition filed by the Chandraratne was taken up for hearing.

The Complainant has accused the UNP leader and other party members of moving to expel him from the UNP over allegations of him crossing over to the Ruling Party, without conducting a proper disciplinary inquiry over the matter.

The Colombo District Court thereafter issued notices to the defendants, including UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Party Secretary General Palitha Range Banadara and others to present their facts to the court. (NewsWire)
