Special notice for employees of air-conditioned work places

The public have been urged to strictly adhere to the health guidelines while performing duties in air-conditioned offices or places.

Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera pointed out that it was riskier to work in closed spaces due to the spread of the coronavirus.

If an individual is working in a closed space, which is air-conditioned, then they could easily contract the virus if they come into contact with an infected individual, he explained.

Dr. Samaraweera further recommend keeping windows and doors open whenever possible in such closed spaces.

He also advised employees to continue to wear their face masks during work hours, and especially when meeting other employees.

Employees have been urged to wash their hands regularly during work hours and prior to leaving their work places.

The Chief Epidemiologist said it is necessary for the workforce to strictly adhere to the health guidelines during this critical period of time in the country. (NewsWire)
