Three Covid deaths from same family in Malabe

Three people from the same family who had died in the Malabe area have been found to have contracted the coronavirus.

According to Ada Derana, the postmortem examinations have revealed that all three of the deceased had contracted the virus.

The Public Health Inspector (PHI) in charge of the area said the deceased have been identified as an elderly couple, and the younger sister of the man, who had resided with them.

The three individuals have been identified as an 86-year-old man, his 96-year-old wife, and his 82-year-old sister, the PHI officer said.

The three people had been admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) on 22nd April after contracting COVID-19 and had died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The son, daughter and son-in-law of the elderly couple are said to have contracted the virus and are receiving treatment at the IDH. (NewsWire)
