Covid travel restrictions : Details of 03 decisions taken

The Police have announced further details on the two different types of travel restrictions to be imposed in the country.

A travel restriction has been imposed islandwide every day from 11 pm -04 am, with the decision being enforced from today till 31st May 2021.

Meanwhile, a three-day travel restriction has been enforced from 11 pm tomorrow (13) till 04 am on Monday (17).

Following are the three decisions announced by the Police with regard to the travel restrictions to be enforced due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka.

  • From 11 PM today (12) until 4 am tomorrow:  Islandwidetravel restriction (similar to curfew).  Not applicable for essential services
  • From 11 PM tomorrow (13) to 4 am Monday (17): 3 full days Islandwide travel restrictions (similar to curfew) Not applicable for essential services & for those who are traveling to get the Covid vaccination.
  • Daily movements will be permitted from tomorrow (13) till 31st May based only on the approved last digits of the NIC numbers of the day. “On odd days those who have 1,3,5,7,9 as the last digit of the National ID and on even days those who have 0,2,4,6,8 as the last digit on the NIC can leave the houses” Police said. This will not apply to the three days when travel is completely banned (14th to 16th). NIC system not applicable for essential services & those who travel for office work. (NewsWire)
