38-year-old arrested for commemorating LTTE

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for gathering a group of people to commemorate the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Kalkudah today.

They said people have been prohibited from commemorating the LTTE. 

The suspect arrested in Kalkudah, Batticaloa today is accused of commemorating the death of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.

He has been arrested for organizing and leading the commemoration event.

The Police said the Kalkudah Police will interrogate the suspect further, while charges will be filed against him under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). (NewsWire)
