Divisional Secretaries, Grama Niladharis, and Samurdhi and Development Officers in the Colombo District have withdrawn from their COVID-19 vaccination duties.
Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasarathna said the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) had opposed Divisional Secretaries, Grama Niladharis, and Samurdhi and Development Officers being assigned vaccination duties.
The GMOA has handed over a letter to the Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardene, stating that it was not essential for such officials to be included in the vaccination programme.
Therefore, a decision has been taken for Divisional Secretaries, Grama Niladharis, and Samurdhi and Development Officers in the Colombo District to withdraw from Covid vaccination duties, Pradeep Yasarathna said.
Meanwhile Covid vaccination centers in several areas were closed today due to an ongoing trade union action by Health workers.
