Inter-province travel ban: Police issue warning

Over 900 people have been warned and turned away for attempting to violate the inter-province travel ban that is still in effect in Sri Lanka for the general public. 

Police spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Ajith Rohana said the inter-province travel ban has been partially relaxed only for essential services workers.

He said Police personnel are continuing to inspect vehicles at the 14 entry/ exit points of the Western Province.

SDIG Rohana said 928 people in 413 vehicles had attempted to violate the travel ban yesterday, adding that they were warned and turned away.

The Police spokesman further warned that stern action will be taken against those violating the inter-province travel ban. (NewsWire)
