Sri Lanka Baseball team qualifies for BFA Asian Championship

The Sri Lanka National Baseball team has qualified for the 2021 XXX Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) Asian Championship, which is to be held in December.

The Sri Lankan team has automatically qualified, as the XV BFA West Asia Cup for the year 2021 which was to be held in Iran in September, has been cancelled, due to the prevailing Covid-19 Pandemic. 

Issuing a statement, the Federation said the WAC was a qualifier event for the 2021 XXX (BFA) Asian Championship.

As a result of the current development, the BFA has decided to implement the final standings of the last edition, the 2019 BFA WAC event, which was hosted in Sri Lanka. 

The Federation said that a total of two teams will be assigned for the Asian Championship.

Thereby, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have been announced as the qualifying teams for the 2021 XXX BFA Asian Championship. (NewsWire)
