Local film stars and artists have made a joint request from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to grant a presidential pardon to fellow film star and former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake.
Film stars and artists who had supported the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and President Rajapaksa in the previous election were among those who had called for the release of Ramanayake.
The group had made the request from the President during a special press conference organized today.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya member Ranjan Ramanayake has been sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court on charges of contempt of court. (NewsWire)
