The Government says the General Sir John Kotelawala National Defence University Draft Bill will not be tabled in Parliament on Friday.
Minister Chamal Rajapaksa informed Parliament today that the debate on the 3rd reading of the Kothalawala National Defense University Bill will not be held on Friday. the 06th of August, as previously scheduled, as it requires more time for consultations.
The opposition has welcomed the decision by the Government to delay the vote on the bill until further public consultation is held.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) had also requested from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday to make several amendments to the proposed bill. (NewsWire)
