President to visit US for 76th session of UN General Assembly

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will attend the 76th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

The 76th session of the UN will be held in New York, USA from the 21st of September, 2021.

The President’s Media Division (PMD) said this will be the first instance in which President Rajapaksa will participate in an overseas event and a session of the UN after assuming duties as the Head of State of Sri Lanka. 

The President is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks on several fields, including economy, education, and agriculture with other Heads of State during his visit to the UN.

The PMD said Foreign Minister Professor G. L. Peiris, President’s Chief Advisor Lalith Weeratunga, and Foreign Secretary Admiral Jayanath Colombage will accompany the President on the visit.

The President’s Media Division added that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s wife will also travel along with the President using personal expense. (NewsWire)
