Negotiations between Sri Lanka and the Group CEO of Emirate National Oil Company (ENOC) Saif Al Falasi have concluded on a positive note, Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila said.

He said negotiations were held on the possibility of purchasing crude oil on a credit facility.

Minister Gammanpila said Group CEO of Emirate National Oil Company (ENOC) Saif Al Falasi and senior officers had participated in the discussion with him yesterday (19).

Minister Udaya Gammanpila is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and had engaged in the discussion on crude oil during his visit.

The negotiations come on the backdrop of discussions held in April between Minister Gammanpila and the Charge d’ Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Colombo, Mr. Humaid Altamimi, on mutual cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.

The discussion had focussed on obtaining crude oil and petroleum products for Sri Lanka on a long-term credit facility.

Minister Gammanpila had said at the time, that the approach was made as a solution to the present foreign exchange crisis faced by Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
