The Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, is preparing, tomorrow, Wednesday, to inaugurate the first winter sports palace in the country, supported by individuals, members of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, and companies that support the sport. After this opening, Mongolians of all generations will be ready to receive the sports complex with a roof that meets international standards, with a capacity of 2600-3500 people, and equipped with the latest sound and lighting systems for various artistic performances. Mongolia has cold and long winter but it is not very successful in winter sports, because some winter sports have been developed based on natural ice and snow.

Interview with (Tsagaan Puntsag – Founder of the Steppe arena Project, Chairman of the Board)

“The “Steppe arena” was created to fulfill the dreams of generations of Mongolians. The project was supported by individuals, members of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, and companies that support the sport, and the ice complex was completed in a short time. The foundation was first laid on April 14, 2019. There were a lot of obstacles and lockdown. However, we are happy that 100 national and 6 foreign companies have completed it together. Mongolia is a country with very cold and long winters. So, for Mongolians, it is possible to succeed in hockey, figure skating, and short-track curling. Mongolians won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics this year. However, winter sports are not very successful. We are happy to be able to create the conditions for future success in the Winter Olympics, just like the Summer Olympics.”

Interview with (Erdenesukh Bold – Team leader of “Khangard” club)

“I am confident that the construction of this palace will raise our level very well. We only trained for 3 months in the winter. Sometimes I go to Russia to train. Participates in the Asian Challenge Cup. From now on, we hope to be more successful if we train and participate in competitions in our country for 4 seasons of the year. The winner of the Asian Challenge Cup will have the right to participate in the World Cup. The requirements for a country to participate in the World Cup must be a closed palace. Mongolia could not participate in the World Cup due to the lack of a palace. I hope that from now on the issue will be resolved and the rank will rise again.”
