A video has been circulated on social media of a conversation between a Police officer and a person identifying himself as a Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, apparently at the Aparekka entry point of the Southern Expressway.

An argument had ensued between the two parties after the Police officer had requested identification details from the driver of the vehicle.

The driver, who had identified himself as a Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, is seen aggrieved with the Police officer for stopping the vehicle and requesting the driving licence.

Following this incident, the concerned Police officer had been transferred with immediate effect. A document is also circulating confirming the transfer.

However, when inquired about the matter, the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Retd. Major General Jagath Alwis said he has informed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct an inquiry over the transfer.

Meanwhile, the transfer of the Police officer has been suspended pending an inquiry over the incident. (NewsWire)
