Foreigner carrying cocaine in stomach held at Sri Lanka airport

A 45-year-old female Ugandan National was arrested by the officers attached to the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday.

The woman was interrogated after being stopped at the airport exit gate under suspension. The suspect has originated from Uganda and transited from Doha.

After examining her body through the airport scanner, it was revealed that she had about 100 cocaine pills in her stomach.

By around 9:00 pm last night, the officers of the Customs Narcotics Division were able to recover 51 cocaine pills that she had swallowed.

Customs media spokesperson, deputy director Sudattha Silva said that SL customs officials are conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
