Pfizer vaccine for school children aged 16-19 from tomorrow

The Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to school children between the ages of 16-19 from tomorrow (22).

The Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardane said the vaccine will be provided islandwide. 

The students from the said age group can obtain the vaccines from their respective schools throughout the country.

Dr. Asela Gunawardane further said priority on the age category will be decided by each school. 

The Government commenced administering the Pfizer vaccine for students sitting for the GCE Advanced Level Examinations in the Colombo District, from 15th October. 

It was announced earlier, that students aged 18 and 19 will be provided the Pfizer vaccine from today.  

As per the announcement, students aged 18 and 19 who have left school were also eligible to obtain the vaccine. (NewsWire)
