Several areas in Sri Lanka are reportedly experiencing power disruptions at present.

The power failure is being reported after the third generator of the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai was reported to have broken down again earlier today.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that the third generator had been deactivated again due to a technical fault.

Stating that the generator was rectified yesterday (31), the CEB said it had been thereafter added to the National Grid but has now been deactivated.

The CEB added that the National Grid has lost 270 MW of power as a result of the malfunction.

Meanwhile, sources from the CEB also warned that power cuts may be imposed as a result of the generator malfunctioning at Norochcholai. (NewsWire)
