The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has requested the Government to increase fuel prices, CPC Chairman Sumith Wijesekara said.

He said the request has been made in line with the recent fuel price hike announced by the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC).

“We have incurred a loss of Rs. 32.5 per litre of diesel for the month of January in comparison to the importation cost. We have also incurred a loss of Rs. 5 per litre of Petrol during this period,” Sumith Wijesekara said.

Stating that the management has informed the Government in this regard, he added that they have thereby, requested to increase fuel prices.

However, Cabinet co-spokesman Minister Dullus Alahapperuma informed reporters yesterday that the subject of increasing fuel prices had not been discussed during the Cabinet meeting held on Monday (07). (NewsWire)
