There will be no scheduled power cuts in the near future, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced today.

PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayaka said that scheduled power cuts will not be imposed due to the PUCSL’s new methodology.

He further said the new methodology will be laid out by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

Earlier today, Janaka Ratnayake warned that imposing a power cut will be imminent.

He said that the mechanism for the power cuts will be announced during the course of the day.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had also said that power generation has been halted at the Kelanitissa Sojitz power plant.

The CEB said power generation has been halted at the plant due to a lack of fuel.

Sri Lanka is facing a power crisis as the Government is unable to purchase the necessary fuel for power generation due to the existing Dollar crisis. (NewsWire)
