Power cut plan announced for Saturday : 7-hours for some areas

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved a request by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to impose power cuts over the weekend. 

The PUCSL said thereby, a 4-hour power cut in two slots and a 7-hour power cut in two slots will be imposed in selected areas on Saturday, the 5th of March.

Meanwhile, a 2 1/2-hour power cut will take place on Sunday, the 6th of March in selected areas. 

The PUCSL said a 3- hour power cut from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm and a 1-hour power cut from 6 pm to 10 pm will be imposed in areas P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, and W on Saturday. 

Areas E & F will face a power cut for 4-hours from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm and a 3-hour power cut from 4.30 pm to 10.30 pm on Saturday. 

The Commission added that on Sunday, the 6th of March, a 2 ½ – hour power cut will be imposed from 9 am to 4.30 pm only for areas A, B, and C. 

Earlier this week, during a discussion with the President, the officials from the Ministries of Energy and Power had vowed to refrain from imposing power cuts from the 5th of March. (NewsWire)
