Warning : Power cuts could be extended to 10-hours next week

The operations of several power plants in Sri Lanka have been severely affected due to the lack of fuel. 

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said today that power generation at the Kerawalapitiya power plant has been temporarily suspended.

The CEB said the power generation at the Kerawalapitiya power plant has been suspended due to a lack of fuel.

Meanwhile, sources said that the current power cuts are to be extended from 6 ½ hours to 10- hours per day. 

They said the nearly 10- hour power cuts are expected to be imposed from next week. 

The sources said that the power cuts have been extended due to the lack of fuel at Power Plants and water at Hydro Power plants to generate power. (NewsWire)
