Cabinet approval has been granted for the implementation of a pilot project on a digital gateway/access for the passengers departing from platform one of the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

The Airport and Aviation (Sri Lanka) (Limited) Company has planned to perform several multiple extensions in order to enhance the efficiency of the monitoring activities at the airport.

Accordingly, it has been proposed to implement a pilot project for introducing a digital gateway/access for the passengers departing across platform one.

The pilot project is based on the concept ‘One Identity’ of the International Aviation Association, under the same.

Thereby, check-on of the passengers will be an easy process to complete by confirming that they possess a valid digital passport for the identification of the passenger via the installation of electronic door/face recognition machines at the access point of the departure lounge.

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to implement a pilot project in this regard as per the resolution tabled by the Minister of Tourism. (NewsWire)
