The Ministry of Energy has tested an application to monitor vehicles at fuel stations and share real-time data with fuel stations islandwide.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that the application was tested in multiple locations today.

The application was developed by the IT Department of the Sri Lanka Police, he revealed.

Stating that the number plate details of the consumers will be entered at the pump, the minister said that the entered data is then shared in real-time with the other users of the application.

“Once the number plate is entered, it will notify if the same vehicle has pumped fuel on the same day from any other station and the history of refueling of the vehicle,” he added. (NewsWire)
