Laugfs Gas PLC has announced that it will release gas to the local market in the next six days.

Chairman of Laugfs Gas K.H. Wegapitiya said the company has been able to open the necessary Letters of Credit (LOC).

Thereby, Laugfs Gas will be able to release gas to the local market once again, he said.

The issues pertaining to the LOCs had resulted in the gas supplier suspending the distribution of gas for a long period of time.

The suspension severely affected consumers. Sri Lanka is also facing a shortage of gas at present.

Meanwhile, Litro Gas Lanka says the shipment of 3500 MT of gas that was expected to arrive in Sri Lanka today will be delayed by another two days.

The primary gas supplier said that as the ship was in need of fuel and Sri Lanka is unable to provide the necessary fuel, it had instead headed to India.

Thereby, the distribution of gas will be further delayed by another two days, Litro Gas Lanka said.

The company has called on the public not to stand in queues today to purchase gas as the distribution has been suspended. (NewsWire)
