The Ministry of Energy has granted approval to all Private Bunker Fuel Operators to import and provide diesel and fuel oil requirements for industries.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that this move will enable industries to function their generators and machinery.
He also said that this will also ease the burden on the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and fuel stations that are providing fuel in bulk.
Minister Wijesekera further said the approval given last month for export-oriented industries to individually import and use fuel has been extended to the other industries.
The decisions were taken during a meeting held with relevant stakeholders yesterday to address the fuel crisis in Sri Lanka, he added. (NewsWire)
